Edgar Negret

Edgar Negret (1920 - 2012) born in Popayán, Colombia studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cali, specializing in sculpture. In the 40s he was influenced by Spanish sculptor Jorge de Oteiza and from 1948 to 1954 he traveled through France, Spain and the United States.

Among his works we can highlight: Navegante, tribute to Christopher Columbus, Sun, Moon, The House of Snakes and Andean Clock. His personality is renewed in the game of geometric figures, combining in recent years the red of metals with a yellow tone. In Colombia, the sculptors Edgar Negret and Eduardo Villamizar are the most important exponents of the latent constructivist spirit.
